NG Results: MAJOR CASE VICTORY – NGI in double homicide trial
By Jessa Nicholson of Nicholson, Gansner & Otis, S.C., posted in Criminal Defense on Monday, May 4, 2015
Attorneys Nicholas Gansner and Jessa Nicholson earned an historic verdict of NGI (not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect) in a double homicide case, State v. Andrew Steele, in Dane County, Wisconsin.
The verdict in this case appears to be the first of its kind nationally, using a major neurocognitive disorder that was caused by an underlying medical condition (ALS) as the basis for the NGI. This is also believed to be the first NGI jury verdict in a homicide case in Wisconsin history.
This case has been covered by both local and national media, including the American Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Wisconsin State Journal.
