NG Results: MAJOR CASE VICTORY – NGI in double homicide trial
By Jessa Nicholson of Nicholson Goetz & Otis, S.C., posted in Criminal Defense on Monday, May 4, 2015
Attorney Jessa Nicholson earned an historic verdict of NGI (not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect) in a double homicide case, State v. Andrew Steele, in Dane County, Wisconsin.
The verdict in this case appears to be the first of its kind nationally, using a major neurocognitive disorder that was caused by an underlying medical condition (ALS) as the basis for the NGI. This is also believed to be the first NGI jury verdict in a homicide case in Wisconsin history.
This case has been covered by both local and national media, including the American Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Wisconsin State Journal.
